Quick Spaghetti Sauce

While I love our crockpot spaghetti sauce, it does require a bit of planning ahead.  I tried a new recipe from Stop Short with a secret ingredient ... and this recipe is ready in just a matter of minutes :)

Quick Spaghetti Sauce - Adapted from Stop Short
{Print Recipe}

1 large can diced tomatoes
1 large can crushed tomatoes (or tomato paste)
1/2 onion, diced
1 T sugar
salt and pepper to taste
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1 lb. ground beef/turkey (optional)

Brown the ground turkey {and onion} in a large skillet over medium heat until done.

Drain the grease.

Then, stir in the tomatoes, tomato paste and seasoning.

Add in sugar and then simmer until warmed.

Then, stir in the special ingredient: cinnamon.

Serve over spaghetti noodles, or use in your favorite recipe.

Enjoy!

  2. I have wanted a good marinara sauce recipe for quite some time. I'm ashamed to admit that I still use canned.

I'm gonna give this one a try!

  3. I use a similar recipe and use tomatoes from my garden, and then can the sause and eat off of it all winter. I currently have about 3 jars left. (I leave out the meat and add it when I open up the canned sauce to serve.) Gotta love the crock pot.

  4. Sometimes the simplest recipes are the best ones. This would be great for camping. Not too many fresh ingredients to go bad. Cinnamon is sneaky additon, bet it tastes good.

  6. This looks delicious! I love pasta sauce with cinnamon in it. I make my sauce with crushed red pepper for a little spice and I add cinnamon to it as well - it was a trick I learned from my dad!

  9. I've never thought to add cinnamon to the recipe. I think that would really add a nice flavor to the sauce. Thank you for sharing this recipe. I have been using jarred sauce for quite a few years. Gasp!
