The White Lace Inn in Door County Wisconsin is a romantic weekend getaway. My parents had a date there many years ago and as a family we went a few years back. What a fun place.
I say all this because they have amazing food at this B&B. A few years back, I was looking for a cherry apple crisp recipe and I stumbled upon this one. It's delicious. I've made the recipe smaller (since theirs is deigned to feed an army!) to suit us, but it is yummy.
Cherry Apple Crisp - Modified from White Lace Inn
2-3 large apples (Macintosh are the best), peeled, cored and sliced
1-2 C cherries
3-4 T butter, softened
1/2 C brown sugar
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 C oats, old fashioned
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/3 C flour
Wash up your apples and cherries!
Then, peel, core, slice and pit!
Layer the apples and cherries in a greased 8x8 inch glass baking dish.
Meanwhile, combine the butter and remaining ingredients. Mix well.
Cover up all those beautiful fruits with the yummy topping....
Serve warm ... with a scoop of ice cream!
