Oreo Drops

Two years ago for Christmas, my dad brought home a container of these from a colleague at work.

They were so tasty, we had to ask for the recipe.

I've seen variants of this recipe around the blog-world, but this one is on our "must-make" Christmas cookie list, so I wanted to share it with you.

Oreo Drops - Finding Joy in My Kitchen {inspired by a colleague of my dad's}

1 pkg. Oreo cookies
1 pkg. light cream cheese {or fat free}, softened
4 oz. dark chocolate chips

Begin by using a food processor or blender to break apart the cookies into fine crumbles.

Then, mix the cookie with the package of cream cheese until well combined.

Shape the cookie/cream cheese mixture into small balls.

Place them on 1-2 plates.

Warm chocolate chips with 30-second intervals in the microwave.  Stir in between each interval.

When melted, pour into a sandwich-sized bag.  Snip of just a little bit of the end and then drizzle the chocolate over the top of the Oreo drops.


Best served cold.

The best part -- they are so easy to make, and they taste wonderful!



  1. I make these too...but I call them oreo truffles!! OMG are they good or what??? I could eat my weight in them!

  2. A friend of mine makes these but she dips the entire ball in melted chocolate to create a truffle. They are AMAZING!!!

  3. My cousin made these for a bridal shower a few years ago. I thought they were the best "bon-bon" I'd ever eaten! She dipped them into chocolate and sprinkled red sugar on top.

  4. I'm right there with Ashli and Jenn...I dip the whole thing in chocolate and call it a truffle. They are a huge hit every time I bring them anywhere!

    This is a great alternative for those though, esp. if you don't have enough chocolate for dipping...I'll try this next time I make these!

  5. I've seen these before, and tried them too, but I didn't know they were so easy! They would be even more yummy with Trader Joe's Candy Cane Joe-Joes (only available at Christmas).

  8. Oh wow, I made these last year, and they were soo good, but the recipe I used you dipped the whole thing in chocolate I like this, as it won't be quite so decadent. Yum!

  10. I just made these last night! I dipped mine in vanilla candy coating for a harder shell, then drizzled melted chocolate chips and melted mint chips on top. They were a big hit.

    And I wanted to let you know that I made your cheesy green beans and rice dish last night and it was sooooo good!! I used vegetable broth instead of chicken broth, but my husband and I both loved the way it turned out. It's a great dish for winter and it was so easy to do. I made the whole thing in the rice cooker and it was so convenient and so tasty. =]

  17. My friend makes these every year and rolls them in white chocolate and and sprinkles. She calls them Oreo Truffles but for the kids they're known as "reindeer poop"!
