Cream Soups

We use these basic cream soup recipes in our house many times each month.  They are so simple and easy to make -- I can't imagine going back to buying the canned variety.

The ingredients are simple: cornstarch, broth, milk and seasonings.  This means, you can make sure they are gluten-free too!

We've used this basic recipe to make cream of mushroom, cream of chicken and more recently, a cream of celery soup.

If you're looking for a basic staple recipe for your kitchen -- this is it!

  3. I am so excited! I stopped making my chicken enchiladas because they include cream of chicken soup and I stopped using the canned soup. I avoid MSG and other yucky ingredients. Now I will have to try them again with this recipe. Thanks!

  6. I've never used cornstarch, gasp! Can flour be used instead, or does it really need to be cornstarch?

  7. I've never tried my hand at making any of the cream soups before, but I just recently switched to using homemade chicken broth, and I have said I'll never buy the canned stuff again. I am going to have to try this now! Thanks for sharing :)
