Homemade Pizza and Dough

We love a good homemade pizza! This recipe calls for an all-white pizza crust, but you can substitute wheat flour in at a 1:1 ratio with success. I love this pizza dough because I can set the timer on my bread machine, and have dough ready to be formed into pizza when we arrive home!

Pizza Dough - From Breadmaker Bread Machine

1lb loaf:

3/4 C warm water
1 T olive oil
1 1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/4 C all purpose flour
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. yeast

Use the "Dough-Only" feature on your bread machine. Put ingredients in the machine in the order listed. When done (about 1 hour and 20 minutes), remove the floured board, if using immediately. Or, place in a bowl greased with olive oil, turn dough over to coat it, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to use.

Making Pizza:

6 oz tomato paste
1 T Italian seasoning

Fresh mushrooms
Cheese - mozzarella, cheddar, Colby Jack...
Green Pepper, chopped (or mixed peppers)
Turkey Pepperoni

Pre-bake pizza dough for about 10 minutes at 350 or 400. Mix tomato paste and Italian seasoning together and spread over dough. Then add toppings as you desire.

Bake for and additional 10-15 minutes until cheese is slightly browned.

We also enjoy a really good BBQ pizza....

BBQ Chicken Pizza

1 recipe dough (see above)
5-6 T Famous Dave's BBQ Sauce (we use the traditional variety)
1 medium chicken breast
1 garlic clove, minced
1 medium red/purple onion, sliced and diced
mushrooms (optional...just because we love mushrooms!)
2-3 green onions, diced (to taste)
cheddar, or extra sharp cheddar cheese, freshly grated

Simmer or grill chicken breast seasoned with garlic. Allow to cool and shred. (You can use pre-cooked chicken, or even chicken from a can, and then just season the chicken with garlic powder or salt.)

Pre-bake crust for about 10 minutes, if desired.

Roll out dough to desired pizza shape. Spread dough with BBQ sauce. Top with shredded chicken, onion, green pepper and cheese.

Bake and additional 10-15 minutes, until cheese is melted and lightly browned.
