Easiest ice cream ever.
Super creamy and delicious – a close tie with our all-time favorite vanilla ice cream. However, this one offers less cals/bowl because it relies on half and half or whole (hey, even 2% milk works too) milk rather than heavy whipping cream.
Sweetened Condensed Milk Ice Cream
Ingredients
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk {or, make your own!}
- 4 C whole milk or half and half
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions
Place all the ingredients together in a large bowl or measuring cup; stir until well blended.
Carefully, pour the ice cream mixture into the assembled ice cream maker. Allow the ice cream maker to make the ice cream for ~20 minutes.
Serve at soft serve consistency, if desired. Otherwise, freeze the ice cream in freezer-safe containers for 2 hours before ice cream reaches hard-scoop consistency.
Enjoy!

ReplyDeleteWe made this yesterday for our daughters birthday! We found an ice cream maker at a yard sale for 5.00, but never used it till I saw this recipe. It was perfect, thank you for sharing it! Ill be trying your other recipes too :0) and Ill link to your recipe when I blog about the birthday details.
ReplyDeleteI made this recipe last night (switching a combination of 2% milk and milk made with powdered milk for the whole milk/half & half in your recipe. It was WONDERFUL! My mother-in-law makes sweetened condensed milk (she swears by Eaglebrand although I use a generic from Aldi and its perfectly fine) so I knew your recipe wouldbe yummy.
ReplyDeleteI posted how I made your recipe on my blog at-http://athomemyway.blogspot.com/2012/09/super-simple-vanilla-icecream.html
Thanks for the wonderful recipes and inspiration you always share with us!
I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed the recipe. We've also made it with 50% as much 1/2 and 1/2 and used milk for the rest. We typically use the Target brand SCM. Enjoy!
DeleteI just found this on Pinterest-I remembered making an ice cream with condensed milk as a girl with mother and remembered that it tasted great. My memories were correct. I made this with a Kitchen Aid ice cream attachment. It turned out great (took about 20 minutes to reach soft serve). My husband is a Blue Bell ice cream snob (A big hey ya'll to fellow Texans) and is unimpressed with homemade ice cream, but he really loved this. It stayed fairly smooth when frozen solid. Thanks for this great recipe!
