Menu Plan - August 15

We're embarking on our third week in our new city, in our house, and it's finally starting to feel like home.  It's been a crazy past couple of weeks with moving, painting, unpacking, finding our way around, and attempting to get settled all while starting to work full time!

This weekend was great -- we finished painting the kitchen {yeah!!  no more green!!}, got Frog Prince's office set up, got the guest bedroom organized, added closet shelves to the closets, hung the rest of the cabinet doors {and gave them a final coat of paint}, got the dining room set up, and made homemade spaghetti sauce.  We even had a chance to go to the local county fair with my family and celebrate my parent's 35th wedding anniversary!

What have we fueled ourselves with during this time of hard work?  Well... last week, we ate lots of sandwiches, and my mom cooked up a few tasty dishes for us too!  We also enjoyed:

Blueberry Breakfast Cake
{our first breakfast in our new house!!}

Garden Veggie Quiche
{part of our first breakfast!}

{with garden tomatoes in the sauce}
Frog Prince and I are adjusting to life in our new home -- but with the start of the school year just a few weeks ahead, we're really working on establishing a routine this week.  Frog Prince works telecommutes and I'll be working out of the home {a switch from both of us being grad students and me usually being the one at home}, so Frog Prince will have a bigger role in making our dinners.

Don't worry -- I'll still be in the kitchen too... I'm too in love with my our new space not to cook up delicious dishes there!

T-minus a month until the additional cabinet is made and we put in new counter tops!!  Soon, we'll add the handles to the doors and drawers -- we're just waiting for the paint to set.  In the meantime, we'll be eating:

D - Zucchini Parmesan, corn on the cob
Dessert - Pie {thanks neighbors!}

  1. Your new kitchen looks beautiful! It's always so much work when you're painting and fixing things up, but it'll make it so much more "yours" when you're done! And it's nice to have family around to lend a hand. Your menu looks fabulous too!! I might just steal a few of those ideas for my menu plan this week (which I'm posting on my NEW blog - take a look!)! :)

  3. I am making the Quiche right this very minute. Minus the broccoli because I don't have any. But adding yellow squash, tomatoes, and basil. All from the garden! Woo Hoo!
    I will make the baked zucchini meal tonight or tomorrow too. My poor family has never eaten so much zucchini in their life. Especially since I am trying a new zucchini cake and bread today while I have the shredding mess going on! :o)
