No big changes around the house this week -- just a few light fixtures and adding the knobs on the cabinets in the kitchen! {there is one knob missing in this photo, but it was all I had uploaded and ready to go this morning!}
Oh. And, making spaghetti sauce. We have lots of tomatoes.
Now that we're getting settled, we're starting to sort out our schedule and figure out life in our new house, new state, new job and new job setting. I'm quickly learning how much menu planning helps when both Frog Prince and I are working full time! While our kitchen isn't fully finished yet, I'm certainly breaking it in well :)

So far, we've found that making lunches the night before when we're putting away dinner helps save time in the morning. We've also been relying on bulk breakfasts that we make over the weekend and freeze to enjoy during the week. Any other suggestions for the newbies?
Our lunches consist of leftovers from our evening meals, as well as sandwiches with yogurt, fruit and veggies. Frog Prince is on his own for lunches... with him working from home we only have to pack one lunch :)

Wow look at the bounty of tomatoes you have! Your menu for the week sounds wonderful :)
ReplyDeleteI try to pack E's lunch when I'm putting away supper, too. It really helps (because then I don't have to get up before he leaves for work in the morning). Also, I made your spagetti sauce last Friday - so delicious!! What a great way to use up some tomatoes. Just a hint .. I'm not sure if you do this, but if you cut a little X in the bottom of each tomato before putting them in the boiling water, the skins will literally just fall off after you put them into the cold.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so yummy!!! Fantastic menu :)
ReplyDeleteEverything looks wonderful! I can't wait to try the spinach bake. Have a wonderful week.

ReplyDeleteGood things abound! So great to see you enjoying your new kitchen and summertime bounty.
ReplyDeletePrepping ahead, planning, and making extra to freeze and use/eat later ... so important when life gets busy.
how did the zucchini sticks turn out?? i hope you liked them as much as we did!
ReplyDeleteAnd I pack lunches the night before, both for me and my husband. Often on the weekends I make a big batch of muffins and freeze them, and then they're easy to take out of the freezer and toss into a lunch box. Same with granola bars.
You are my hero!! What an amazing week of meals. Good luck with the new jobs!!
ReplyDeleteMenu planning is must with us. I am going back to college. I will be gone as the same time as the kids. Made sure my schedule is around there school schedule. I will be packing four lunches. I starting to eat healthier and bake and cook more. I will be cooking and baking on weekends. I live in Michigan and I am like the bears I hibernate in the winter.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had your cooking skills!
